Fully oxidised, black teas have dark leaves and
make a darker colored tea with a strong bold flavour,
quite different to unfermented teas. Several foreigners
on the TeaVivre team started out drinking black teas,
before graduating onto other tea types. During
processing the taste matures into the fruity, nutty or
spicy taste characteristic of black teas. The black teas
that are the favourites with us at TeaVivre – including us
foreigners – would have to be either our Keemun or our
Dian Hong black teas.

The most popular black tea in China and considered one of the finest teas in the world, TeaVivre's grade 1 Keemun has a strong, fruity aroma and a bold, layered, fruit and floral like taste that lingers in your mouth long after you finish drinking it. Not quite at the same level as our Keemum Golden Tips, it is still a very high quality tea, and is great to drink everyday.

Our grade 2 Keemun is our budget, entry level Keemun black tea. Of course, “entry level” is a relative term – it is still very good quality and significantly better than any bagged or mass market Keemun teas you will find. It has the same strong, fruity characteristics as our other Keemun teas, but comes in at a price that is unbeatable.

A classic Chinese black tea, this is our premium grade “Golden Tip” Dian Hong from Yunnan. This tea is composed only of mahogany coloured buds, tipped with an orange “pekoe” ends, and brews into an absolutely fantastic tasting, highly aromatic, black tea, with a rich, bold taste without any bitterness. Can be drunk as-is, or with a touch of sugar or milk.

Our Dian Hong black tea from Yunnan is a mix of about 1 quarter golden pekoe buds and 3 quarters dark leaves, and is still a high quality tea that is great to drink. When brewed it is similar in taste to our other two Dian Hong teas, but with slightly less intensity in flavour and aroma. Can be drunk as-is, or with a touch of sugar or milk.

Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong (Lapsang Souchong) used pine wood or pine charcoal from Tongmu kuan in Wuyi mountain as materials, which has a long history about 400 years. This tea has a strong smoky and pine smell for someone who likes strong flavor.
