With more than 30 years of processing tea, Mr. Yang, as well as other tea farmers in Huidui village, are living by selling teas, which is the only thing they count on to support their lives.
When we talked with Mr. Yang about why he had the idea to make flower dragon ball tea, Mr. Yang said: “Our former tea maters have already created a very special blend of Pu-erh Mini Tuo Cha with Rose and Chrysanthemums. That’s why the idea of making dragon ball black tea with flower flooded into my mind.” After that, Mr. Yang started his experiments to make dragon ball black tea with flower. With multiple experiments, he found Dian Hong Black tea is not proper to roll into a small shape as Mini Tuo Cha, but perfect for making into bigger dragon balls by the processing method of rolling. By using this method, it presented the best shape and appearance of the Black Tea that could be.
After succeeded in producing dragon ball black tea with fresh flowers, Mr. Yang began to challenge himself by making other types of dragon ball teas. So far, lots of new type flower dragon ball black teas have been successfully made, which includes: Rose, Chamomile, Jasmine and Forget-me-not dragon ball black tea. Moreover, Mr. Yang made another attempt to dragon balls with pure tea material, they are: Ancient Dragon Ball Pu-erh Tea and Moonlight Beauty Dragon Ball White Tea.

Our Jasmine Dragon Ball Black Tea is made from Yunnan large-leaf species old tea trees. Old tea trees, which refers to the age of trees range between 50-300 years old. While, tea trees over 300 years old are considered as ancient tea trees.
Old tea trees have long roots that go deep into the ground, and mostly they’re grown in favorable mountain ecosystem conditions. Therefore, it can reduce the damage caused by diseases and insects. Teas grown in this area are more likely to be regarded as natural teas, because there’s no pruning or any manual managements involved in. That’s why it has a lower output than Taidi Cha.
The nitrogen contains in old tea trees has exuberant metabolism, which can produce a large amount of amino acids, protein and tea polyhenols through a series of chemical reactions. Compared with old tea trees, although tea from younger tea tree still tastes rather mellow and fresh, it’s a little weak in sweet aftertaste.
Jasmines are widely cultivated in the world for their characteristic flower fragrance which has a good reputation of being reminiscent of the air taste of the spring. Jasmines are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Eurasia, Australasia and Oceania and later introduced to China. Jasmines thrive in warm, humid area with abundant sunshine. Thanks again, Teavivre! I always appreciate the samples! This is a BIG individually wrapped dragon ball of black tea with whole jasmine blossoms embedded in the tea. When I was infusing the tea ball, I saw at least EIGHT whole jasmine blossoms floating! Unfortunately, the usual intoxicating amazing jasmine scent and flavor that Teavivre's teas usually have is not with this one. I tried tasting hints of jasmine, but I can't taste it at all. However, there is a TON of tea leaves here, almost completely filling up the infuser basket when steeped, though it never gets too astringent or bitter. The flavor is a lovely black tea -- very dark and deep, with notes of dark chocolate and wine. So as a jasmine tea, this is a fail but as a black tea, this is delicious. If only it had the jasmine flavor like the other Teavivre jasmine teas. Steep #1 // 1 piece for a full mug// 12 minutes after boiling // rinse // 3 minute steep Steep #2 // few minutes after boiling // 4 minute steep
