The black tea material of lychee back tea comes from Panxi Town, Fuding City, Fujian Province, which is located in the northeast of Fujian and is one of the famous tea-producing areas. Fuding belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate, which is characterized by the distinct oceanic climate. The average annual sunshine lasts 1840 hours; the average annual temperature is 18.5°C; average annual precipitation is 1661.6 millimeters.
Lychee is a subtropical fruit produced in southern China, among which Guangdong province is the most cultivated area for lychee. Guangdong province is located in the southernmost part of mainland China and belongs to the East Asian monsoon region. The fertile land, warm climate and abundant rainfall provide a very good growth environment for the growth of lychee.
Fuding Cai Cha refers to the small leaf tea trees reproduced by seeds and also is a name for the older local varieties of tea. The history of planting Cai Cha is about 1000 years and during this period, the tea trees grow naturally. Its features are late germination in spring and fat but short tea buds, which are suitable for making black tea, white tea and etc.
In the Tang Dynasty of China, Concubine Yang loved eating lychees. Each year when lychee was ripe, Emperor Tang Minghuang would send many fleets to carry lychee via the Grand Canal from the South to North. Meanwhile, on the fleets there are various palace tribute teas, but the royal and Concubine Yang unexpectedly loved the lychee black tea which is smoked together with lychee and Gongfu black tea. Thus, gradually lychee black tea is popular and becomes the world’s earliest natural fruit black tea.
