A unique form of tea, named after the town of Pu Er in
Yunnan province, that has a completely different processing
method,and usually taste, to other teas. Made from a broadleaf
variety of the tea grown in Yunnan, it is initially processed like a
green tea. However things then change radically! The dried tea is
then aged in a dark location – often for many years. During this time
the tea undergoes a form oxidation caused by the growth of yeast on
the tea – in just the same way that wine is produced. Though the tea
appears like a black tea, this secondary oxidation produces a tea
that has an absolutely unique taste. When done right – again just
like wines – it results in a tea that has an amazing bold, strong
taste and aroma!
This 2006 Sheng Tuocha comes from Fengqing, Yunnan. Using Fengqing large tea species as material, it was made with the process of picking, rolling, drying and compressing. This Sheng Tuocha has strong taste of first sip. As a typical model of Yunnan Pu-erh tea, this Tuocha has pure sweet aftertaste, tight shape and soft leaves.
Our Mini Aged Pu-erh Tuo Cha are small tea cakes of ripened Pu-erh tea flakes harvested in 2007, compressed into the beautiful bird's nest shaped cake which you can easily drop into a cup or teapot for quick and easy brewing of your Pu-erh tea. Each tea cake is individually wrapped for convenient storage that will make your Pu-erh tea last much longer. Infused with a beautiful tiny Chrysanthemum flower in each tea cake, these Mini Pu-erh Tuocha (or tea cakes) are created with our premium ripened Yunnan Pu-erh tea, harvested in 2008. The warm mellow and earthy flavored Pu-erh tea flakes are compressed into a beautiful bird's nest shape then individually wrapped for proper storage. The light Chrysanthemum lends a light and aromatic floral tone to the more earthy flavor of the Pu-erh, and the tea cakes are a convenient way to brew your tea by dropping one tea cake into your cup or teapot. When brewed, the Chrysanthemum flower is revealed, and the tea is infused with its flavor and aroma.
Created from the highest quality flakes of ripened Yunnan Pu-erh leaves which were harvested in 2008, these delicious single serving tea cakes are compressed into the shape of a cute bird's nest. In each tea cake we include a tiny unopened pink or red rosebud, which lends a gorgeous light floral rose flavor and hint of aroma to the warm, mellow earthy flavor of the premium Pu-erh tea.
