This is an excellent sheng puerh! It is very young, completely not aged, but what a contrast to other young sheng puer teas - it is sweet, mellow, strong orchid fragrance and taste, and in less extent - floral and honey notes, pretty weak but clearly present. Having some experience with young sheng - I made shorter infusions than the instructions, and I recommend this to all. By making shorter infusions, you will ensure sweet and pleasant tea with no astringency or bitterness at all, and have much more infusions, this tea is a very long lasting. And even if you make a mistake and brew it for too long - instead of bitterness and tobacco taste (like some other young sheng puerhs do) you receive a kind of intensified orchid astringency. Eventually I found myself playing with the brewing time, trying to make it a bit longer and then a bit shorter, and each time the reaction of the tea was different, making it an intriguing and pleasant game. This tea is way more expensive than most of young sheng puerhs - but to my opinion it is definitely worth it. XiGui is a higher league!

Don't understand all the praise this tea has garnered here. It's not a bad tea, but I'd be hard pressed to extoll its virtures. Glad other reviewers are finding something to like.

Everybody can see that this tea is not of Qi Dan / Da Hong Pao variety, and it even does not come from Wuyishan area but from a different region of Fujian province, so technically it is not a Wuyi rock oolong and not Da Hong Pao. Nevertheless, the tea is very good, I really enjoy its pleasant and mild taste. It is light roasted so the aroma is not smoky. The tea fades out rapidly, so the brewing instruction provided is very useful, it says to increase the steeping time significantly from one infusion to another and it is really helpful. I gave it 4 stars this time due to very high price. I had ordered this tea few years ago, and recently I chose it as a sample to try it again and was surprised to see that the price went higher. But anyway it is a very pleasant tea. Kudos to TeaVivre for providing detailed information about their tea!

This baimudan is flavorful, durable, and quite affordable. At the time of writing, it's 2 years old, so there is a little bit of an aged character there. The aroma and flavor are not particularly complex, but they are pleasant, and still interesting enough to gong-fu. Although it doesn't compete with the higher-end offerings on this site (ex: "White Peony (Bai MuDan) White Tea Cake 2015" or "Premium White Peony (Bai MuDan) Tea"), it's more than good enough for a daily drinker. I would recommend this if you are looking for a baimudan on the more affordable side. I personally preferred it over the Zhenge mini cake (which I found to taste a bit greenish), the slightly more expensive "Organic White Peony (Bai MuDan) Tea," and loose leaf "Zhenghe White Peony (Bai MuDan)."

This tea is very tasty, right away. Wet leaves: sweet, jujube, woody, earthy. Taste: full-bodied, woody, jujube, orange peel. Very enduring. Amazing tea. Great buy.

Very good tea. Short steeping time. It's woody, and there is the lovely aged puerh taste. I can taste some cacao. The wet leaves have an earthy, woody aroma.

Open tea sample bag, first is the jasmine fragrance catching your nose. After steep about 10 seconds in boiling water, then sip first bite, that is it. Very fresh and fragrant . I didn’t exactly remember how many times I steep but at least more than 10 times.The tea leaves are perfect, no hard stern, only top very tender buds.

I find the notes in this one to be very herbaceous. That's not a flavor I often yearn for. But, when I do, this is a good tea. It's enduring, has a gentle energizing effect for me, and while it's not all that forgiving to brew, it does give a reliable result. I prefer it at 90C for short bursts. It really doesn't need that much time. Even 20s is a bit much. I prefer somewhere from 10s to 15s for each steeping. If you're looking for an herbaceous note, this is a good tea, but for something more floral, the Award Winning Organic Premium White Peony is better.
